What if you could afford flying lessons?

The 2024 Sauveur and Julie Elizagoyen Memorial Aviation Scholarship Could Be the Answer.

Each year, the Sauveur and Julie Elizagoyen Memorial Aviation Scholarship makes it possible for one Elko County resident aged 16 or older to pursue a private pilot’s license. The scholarship honors Sauveur Elizagoyen and his daughter Julie, both of whom shared a love of flying. Since its inauguration in 2013, 10 scholarships have been awarded.

The scholarship pays 75 percent of the cost of obtaining a private pilot’s license up to a maximum of $7,500. (The student pilot’s medical exam is not covered by the scholarship.)

Applications for the 2024 Sauveur and Julie Elizagoyen Memorial Aviation Scholarship may be downloaded here.  They are also available at PACE Coalition’s office, 429 Court Street, Suite 2, in Elko, or from El Aero, 815 Murray Way (off of Mountain City Highway near the Elko Airport).

No prior flight experience or training is necessary. Applications will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024. Prior applicants are welcome to reapply.
